NEW PARENT TOOLKIT
LINKS TO RESOURCES
The California Children and Families Commission launched a statewide project designed to offer guidance to all new and expecting parents – the Kit for New Parents. The Kit, which is provided in English and Spanish language versions, contains various educational materials to help provide guidance to new and expectant parents.

In order to reach as many new families as possible, local Commissions have taken the lead in distributing the Kit. Sutter County Children & Families Commission have partnered with many local providers who work with expectant or new parents and Rideout Health to distribute the free kits to clients and patients.

The Kit contains a guide entitled, “Advice for New Parents”, covering various questions relating to all ages up to five, a CD covering various topics, and even a new book for the baby along with several brochures! It provides a wide range of information to help all parents and caregivers, and answer questions about caring for a child. Questions such as: How much food should I give my baby? How do I childproof my home? What should I look for in child care? How much television should my child watch? Why does my baby cry? Why set limits for my child?

If you are an individual looking for a single Kit for personal use, please call First 5 California at (800) KIDS-025 (English) or (800) 5-0-NIÑOS (Spanish) and a Kit will be sent directly to your home.
