Jennifer Ybarra is our Child Development Behavioral Specialist and is endorsed as a Transdisciplinary Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health Practitioner by the California Center for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health. This important achievement recognizes the complexity of skills and knowledge needed to support the social and emotional development and well being of infants and young children within the context of their early relationships, family, community, and culture.
Early mental health services promote school readiness by strengthening early relationships, family functioning, and a child’s emotional regulation and social competence.
Child Development Behavioral Specialist (CDBS), provides:

Phone consultations on behavioral concerns.

Home based screenings, assessment, and intervention services.

Behavioral education workshops offered throughout Sutter County for parents/guardians, care providers, and other adults living or working with Sutter County children aged 0-5.

Social Emotional and Developmental Education and observations for parents of children aged 0-5.
How can I receive Services?
If you are a parent or guardian of a child aged 0-5:
And the child is experiencing or has been identified in pre-school, kindergarten, health, or childcare settings as having challenging behaviors, please complete our online self referral form.
If you are a professional referring a family:

Discuss the details and benefits of being referred to the CDBS Program with the family and obtain consent.

Let the family know the CDBS will contact them.
HELP ME GROW SUTTER COUNTY

Help Me Grow provides FREE Health and Developmental Screenings to Sutter County children birth to age 5. The program provides an opportunity for parents to have their parenting and child development questions answered in a fun and relaxed environment, and if there is a need for additional services Help Me Grow staff can provide help accessing the recommended service.

Help Me Grow, formerly known as Bright Futures, has assessed or screened more than 10,000 children for developmental benchmarks since 2004. In 2005 Bright Futures was the winner of the National Association of Counties Acts of Caring Award which recognizes the top county volunteer programs in the country.
